Consett Canicross
Consett Canicross is a club lead by the North East’s first Sporty Paws Certified Instructor and offers three social runs per week for anyone looking to get fit and form an unbreakable bond with their dog(s).
Additionally, they organise race events in and around Consett which attract teams from all over the UK. Allensford was their 2022/23 Trail Series finale which saw almost fifty teams navigate the muddy and hilly trails around the woods to claim their medals and brilliant spot prizes. The events also act as fundraisers for animal charities, with 10% of all entry fees for Sunday’s event being donated to The National Animal Sanctuary Support League.
September marked the first Consett Canicross Trail Series race of the new 2023-24 season with a fun and muddy event held at Broom House Farm near Witton Gilbert.
52 participants from across the Canicross community competed in a 5km Individual and Team Time Trials to start Consett canicrosses third season as an event organiser, before enjoying an inclusive breakfast roll and hot drink at the Coffee Shop.
As always, 10% of the participants entry fees benefitted a local animal charity and they raised £120 for Helping Pets (North East).

We returned to Canicross in November for the Chopwell Trail Series 2023 in Chopwell Woods.
Lots of participants from across the Canicross community competed in either a 5km and 10km race and our photographer Abbie was there to capture the action.
